This Medication Dispense Event template defines the structure and format rules for each dispensing event that occurs against a medication order or prescription. This template will repeat for each dispense issued for the Prescription identified in the Prescription Event template. This template includes all the information that may be communicated as part of a dispensing event including the specific DIN Code for the product dispensed.

This template is primarily relevant to use cases 2 (Provider Dispensed) and 3 (Provider Administered); however, it may also be populated if the dispensing organization has submitted the information to the EMR.
